Name: Uma (female) Date of birth: May 2010 Height to shoulder: 32 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: yes ok with dogs, not tested with cats Homed: July 2017 The former owner of Uma and four other Beagles turned to the shelter asking if they could take the dogs because he have not enough time for them. He talked about his babies and how much he loves them and how hard the decision is for him. We were expecting a little happy beagle team and they were very sad that they had to leave their humans. When Uma came to the shelter with Joquin, Carrie, Lucky and Gael, we didn´t believe our eyes. There was not a funny Beagle group wandering through the gate, no, there were very distraught and frightened, some more shy, other more reserved. We have no idea how the conditions were where they lived and what they’ve experienced, but it’s not normal for that breed Beagle to be distraught and frightened in that way. Now we are glad that his “babies” are with us and we can try to pampered all of them with loves and attention as much as possible. Would be better they could find a lovely home soon, but we think they are now better in the shelter than before. Uma is one of the more shy than frightened Beagles. She needs a bit time to learn all the new things and how to live as a family member, but one day she will be a happy little girl when she has found a new family. Name: Mita (female) Date of birth: September 2013 Height to shoulder: 31 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: yes ok with dogs, not tested with cats Homed: July 20171 Mita was given up by her owners. They just didn´t want her anymore. Mita was initially completely distraught and needed some weeks to get into the shelter life. She didn´t want to have to do with anyone or anything. We guess that she was waiting that the owners come back, but it is not happened and so she has surrendered to her fate. Mita is now looking for human contact, she missed the attention and to get strokes. She is good with other dogs, walks good on the leash and is house-trained. Mita has the great hope to find a new family soon, a family who loves her and will never give her up again. 30Name: Thelma (female) Date of birth: April 2015 Height to shoulder: 30 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: yes ok with dogs, not tested with cats Homed: July 2017 Thelma and Louise were found in Limassol. The condition of them showed us that they had been wandering in this district for a very long time. Both were very dirty and full of fleas and ticks, but they were not emaciated. It seems they were able to find enough to eat (maybe from the garbage). When they were found they were very afraid of humans. They were rigid with fear as they were brought to the vet. Thelma has gained more confidence in the meantime as Louise and doesn´t run away from us and comes to get strokes and attention. You can see in her eyes that she is still a bit frightened, but she can enjoy the attention. She is very good with all other dogs in her kennel. Volunteers were able to get him out there and brought them to a shelter. Misha was incredibly dirty when he came out of the pound, but happy and healthy. Obviously he had never bad experiences with humans. Misha is a cheerful and friendly little boy. He plays and rages through the kennel with the other puppies and is happy to get attention from humans. Jeffrey was found by a couple who walk his dogs. He ran after them and they took him home as a foster dog. He is quite timid and frightened. No one knows why is he like that. Maybe his formerly owner was not good to him, or he had not enough experiences in his life. Now he is safe in his foster home and when he will realize it he can gain confidence. He can not stay there forever, because the people have already enough dogs. Jeffrey hopes to find his own family soon. 26Name: Melvin (male) Date of birth: November 2016 Height to shoulder: currently 46 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: no ok with dogs, not tested with cats Homed: July 2017 Unfortunately the woman of the couple who owned Melvin died and the husband has fallen into deep depression since his wife’s death, so he was not able to care enough about Melvin. The vet service was informed about it and after long conversations he finally agreed to give Melvin free. Melvin could find a place, where they helpers take care of him. It is replacement for a home, but he get good food and attention. But Melvin hopes that he is not too long in the shelter, because he is still very young and doesn´t want to spend his life in a shelter. He loves humans and their attention. He is very cuddly and loves to climb on the lap of the helpers and to cuddle. Melvin is good with the other dogs and likes to play and run with them.
