About us

We understand only too well the difficulties that shelters experience in the excellent work they do and also the financial burden they incur. One of the main problems that they all face is that the number of dogs coming into the shelters far exceeds the number they can home.

As a visitor to this site, you may be trying to find your new doggy family member and we most certainly want to help you to do that!

However, you may be visiting us because you have found a stray dog or because you personally want to re-home your own dog for whatever reason.  Sadly, every day now we are inundated with such requests.  Please be aware that is not what we are here for, please be aware

  • We do not operate a shelter, we work to support those we are partners with
  • We cannot take a dog that you have found or don’t want anymore

Our association exists to support our partners both financially and with practical help, and to promote the re-homing of dogs within Europe and Cyprus.

 How do we achieve this?

  • We liaise with the shelters we support to identify the dogs most suitable to advertise here on our site, to help find them a suitable, permanent new home – we will only offer dogs for adoption that we are confident are healthy and have good characters.  We ensure we have all the information that is available about their past history and health
  • We work with the shelters to provide training and socialisation for the dogs prior to re-homing so that they are ready to move on
  • We try to find foster homes for dogs, with priority given to the short term fostering of those dogs already selected for adoption.  This gives them time to find out what being in a proper home is like, helps to further socialise the dog and also gives the opportunity for the foster carer to further assess the dog for health and behaviour.  During this time any additional training or health needs will be met
  • We assist the shelters where we can with food, vets bills and other expenses but this is always dependent on our own budget constraints – we operate solely with donations
  • We have now commenced our Education Programmes.  We feel this is vitally important for the future progress of animal welfare in Cyprus – for more information please look at the Training and Education section of this site where you will see all the exciting new developments and initiatives we have
  • Fundraising – we are always looking for new ideas to raise the money needed to carry on with our work.  All fund raising events will be published on here and on our facebook page
