Arrival on 21st of December 2016 in Hamburg
Wednesday, 21st of December 2016, was a big day for 12 of our dogs and for all people which were involved on this day. A fly off of 12 dogs means a lot of work and organization, in Cyprus and in Germany. Before the dogs could fly they have to go to the vet for a last check, and then they have to go to the beauty centre for a last bath and treatment. When the time is coming some volunteers have to drive to the vet/beauty centre to pick all dogs up, to prepare the cages and boxes and to bring all dogs safely to the airport. When all dogs are aboard, the people in Germany begin to prepare for their journey to the airport. Arrival folders have to be prepared on such a big arrival and the team have to discuss the order. Adopters and helpers have to drive to the airport to pick up the dogs. When the dogs are landed, all can take a deep breath in. It is the point where everyone knows, that the time has come for all dogs where they will start a better life. Name: Asco (male) Date of birth: May 2014 Height to shoulder: 51 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: yes ok with dogs, not tested with cats Admitted to the shelter: December 2016 Asco is one of the hunting dogs of the hunting season 2016 and landed in a pound. He had luck and could change to a shelter. Asco’s experiences with us humans can not be the best. When he came to the shelter he showed that he was happy about us humans, but from a safe distance. He was not sure if you are good to him or not. In the meantime he has built trust in his well-known helpers and will surely also put his fears down with other people when he gets more time to learn that hands are only there for cuddles and food. Asco shows a loving character in the shelter and he gets along well with the other dogs in his group. Name: Buster (male) Date of birth: approx January 2011 High to shoulder: 45 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: yes ok with dogs, ok with cats Admitted to the shelter: January 2014 / In the meantime he could move to a foster home in Cyprus. Buster was thrown over the fence of a shelter. He was very scared and it took some time to catch him. He had an infected wound beneath his tail, someone shot him in the butt. He has six more bullets in his body. Buster had an operation where his wound was cleaned. From this he has already recovered well. He gets along well with other dogs, but he wants to keep all toys for himself. He is still afraid of us humans and is submissive. A dog lover saw him several days not leaving the area, but also no owner came to pick him up, so she took him to a shelter. Name: Jaro (male) Date of birth: July 2015 Height to shoulder: 56 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: yes ok with dogs, not tested with cats Admitted to shelter: July 2016 Jaro was found in a village outside Limassols. His finders brought him to the vet to see if he was healthy and then took him home. The vet check revealed that Jaro is completely healthy. Unfortunately, he could not stay with his finders, but they could find a place in a shelter for him. Jaro was very shy when he came to the shelter, which suggests that his past life was not very much influenced by human affection. But he understands that he is now safe and even though the helpers in the shelter don´t have much time to look after him intensively, but he likes them. For beeing able to live a normal life it would be great for him to find a family, who will take care of him and show him how great people can be. Jaro is still young and has a good chance to become a fearless dog and to have a fear-free life. Jaro is looking for a loving and active family who wants to explore a new life with him.
