Update 25.02.14: Force-free & Fun Dog Training Workshop on Sunday the 2nd March 2014
Are you interested in the Workshop Force-free & Fun Dog Training? Then you are welcome to read more. There you can lern, how smart your dog really is at the introduction to Clicker Training. We would be very happy if many people are interested. Please come and learn more about the relationship with you and your dog. Update 25.02.2013: Are you coming to the Training Event on Sunday? If so please do be there by 9.45 so that we can start promptly at 10. All ‘dog’ places are full now, but if you wish to come along as an observer you are welcome to do so. Parking will be organised as you arrive, so if you are just an observer please let the person on the gate know so that we can direct you to the right parking space. Hot and cold drinks and snacks will be available for sale in the Fatsa Cafe. Don’t forget your dog treats, dog blanket, water and your chair. Date of birth: October 2011 High to shoulder: 36 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: yes Homed: February 2014 Branston was found on a golf course and brought to PAWS. He has settled somewhat, but he just begs to be with people. When people go along the corridor, he hops on the lattice door, clings firmly there and tries to put his head through the doorway so he can get have some human contact. I’ve seen it myself and I felt the warmth oozing from him. Branston is a lively young dog who likes to play and likes to have lots of action. But when people are with him, he is very calm and just wants to cuddle and takes every opportunity to get a few pats. He is a great cuddler and obviously misses this so much. For Branston, we want an active family who would enjoy taking him out and about with them, and Branston would enjoy the necessary training so that he can integrate into his new environment. He’s a smart little guy and is sure to please and not give any trouble. The main thing for him is that he gets lots of love and finally does not have to spend most of his time without human contact. Branston understands shelter life very well and has no problems with the other dogs. Just look at that face, how can you resist? Recently we received a message from a desperate woman. She found a dog in Analyontas Village 6 months ago. He was in a bad condition and it was him miserable. He was emaciated, very skinny and boned. She found him just as he ran around to searching for food. After threats that he will be shot by village people bothered only by his presence, the woman had removed him immediately and put him in a private kennel. There he found a place at the moment. Her financial resources were always scarce and so she accept an offer from a Russian warehouse owner. Hercules should guard his warehouse. But when she came to visit him, she removed him again, because he was in a worse state, both physical and emotional, as he was first found. He was very frightened and skinny. And he was depressed, because he need his freedom. Then she brought him to an another kennel, where he lived locked in a cage. The people who working there are all volunteers and therefore have little time. Unfortunately, the dogs live there almost entirely without human care. Within the last 6 months the woman has tried to find a home for him, but sadly no one, except the Russian warehouse owner, wanted Hercules. She don´t belong to any Animal Welfare Organisation. She has invested a lot of money out of her own pocket for the private kennel, food, medical care, vaccinations, neutering, microchip and for blood tests. It’s nice to see that even private people try to do much for our Cyprus dogs and of course we will support them. We asked the woman to come to us with Hercules so that we can get to know him. He is a wonderful healthy young and handsome male dog. Full of energy and very friendly. He is only 2 years old. After we met him, we were unable to bring him back to his cage. No dog deserves to vegetate. He is such a lovely boy. So we took him into our custody and brought him to a better shelter. There are someone who cares about him, with tender loving care, enough food and certainly time for a walk. Now he will be trained regularly. There, he will learn to walk on a leash and to sit. He is clever, so he will learn it quickly. Although now an improvement in the living conditions of Hercules was created, but a shelter is still a shelter, and thus not a good place for an animal. He is urgently looking for a home where he can stay forever. Please contact us, if you are interested to adopt our beautiful Hercules. We are sure, he will thank you for the adoption with infinite love. Update 07.05.2014: Hercules needs a home with only qualified people, which can handle strong dogs. Hercules has a very independent character and can also show aggression, when he doesn’t get approached in the correct way. He needs professional training. He shouldn’t go into a home with children. Date of birth: October 2013 High to shoulder: 44 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: not yet Homed: February 2014 Bonnie and her sister Sushi are sisters of the poor pups which had to spend the first weeks of their lives in horrible circumstances. These both have been more lucky and could have been placed into a foster home. Now their luck is unfortunately finished, their foster home couldn’t keep them any longer and they had to join their brothers in the shelter. Bonnie is the biggest one and she is very active and playful. She is looking for a loving and active family. She would love to visit with her family a dog school, to learn as much as possible. When they came to the shelter, they were very skinny and in bad condition. Now four weeks later, they all recovered and they are healthy and vaccinated. Kim is active, playful and loves the attention of people. He is looking for a loving active family. He would love to visit with his family a dog school, to learn as much as possible.
