CYDRA PRESENTATION TO LIMASSOL LADIES’ CLUB

CYDRA PRESENTATION TO LIMASSOL LADIES’ CLUB

Tuesday 4th February 2014

St Barnabas Church, Limassol

Today Barbara and Carole visited the Limassol Ladies Club at St Barnabus Church Hall.  We knew it was going to be a great morning because no sooner had we arrived we were presented with coffee and beautiful homemade cakes.  I could get used to this!

Barbara started the presentation by telling the ladies what CyDRA actually does – and this included adoption, transport, sponsorship, supporting several rescue facilities and individuals, fostering, health care and general welfare, fund raising  and financial responsibilities etc.   The ladies commented that they did not realise that so much was involved in the rescue of dogs.

Carole spoke about the education program – including projects such as Be a Tree, General Dog Care presentations for schools and older children and the various activities which come under Tales to Tails Therapy Dogs.  She also  explained about the training team at Julias and the various activities set up to encourage people to look at dogs more favourably – such as the therapy work, young animal trainers group at Julias and Animal Antics club which is to start off soon.

The question time after the presentation was very active and it was wonderful so see some of the members volunteer their services in areas such as general kennel work, vet or airport runs and presentations to schools etc.

At the end of the presentation the Limassol Ladies Club presented Barbara with Euros 220.00 raised by the members as a donation  for Cydra and Julia’s.  This was a wonderful surprise and one we truly appreciate.

All in all the morning was hugely successful.  Both Barbara and I had a great time – which we knew was running out when we were both  still answering questions as the tables and chairs were being stacked! There is never enough time!

Our sincere thanks go to the Ladies of Limassol for having the stamina to listen to us both and for their kind donation and offers of help – and those lovely homemade cakes!
