Lola (W)

Date of birth: January 2013 High to shoulder: 30 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: not yet Homed: January 2014   This sweet, exhausted female (who has been recently bred and then abandoned) showed up at one of our foster homes recently.  She was tired and underfed but still very affectionate. She was very smelly, and had obviously been on the road a long time. She settled down quickly on this dog bed!! Albeit tired and worn out from being bred she seems healthy and just loves to be cuddled.   Lola wants some love, can you give it? Related...

Flower (P)

Date of birth: May 2013 High to shoulder: 44 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: not yet Homed: January 2014   Flower is only about 8 months old and found in a remote area found and rescued by an animal-loving man. She has been living for quite a while at PAWS and of course she appeals to hunters, but she will not be re-homed to a hunter. It appears she may have been exposed to hunting as she is gun shy and fearful of load noises, maybe they tried her out and discarded her. She is very fond of the people and like so many of our hounds, we think she is more likely to be a lap dog in the body of a hound!! Flower is by its nature very submissive and gentle. She wants to be petted, but submits herself immediately at any rapid or unguarded movement. She shows no aggression and is a delightful young girl. We assume that she has never lived in a house so will need to learn what she can and cannot do inside and outside, but she’s young and will learn quickly. Long walks, dog sports, lots of fun activities and she will be a very happy dog – and think how good it would be for you and your family too!   If you want Flower to join your bunch(!!), please contact us before she gets picked (!!) by someone else. Bluebell (P)

Date of birth: May 2010 High to shoulder: 34 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: yes Homed: January 2014   Bluebell is a nearly 4 year old Beagle and was found in the vicinity of a dam. Obviously she has been abused as a breeding machine and was already pregnant again! Now Bluebell has been in the shelter since December 2013 and all hunters who see her want to take her. But Bluebell will NOT be re-homed as a hunting dog!  We will not rescue her only to send her back to the same awful life. Bluebell is a little shy and we assume that she has never lived in a house.  She will have a lot to learn but she likes people, even though she is still a little cautious, but who can blame her. Bluebell has a very loving and gentle nature and is fine with other dogs.   How can you resist those eyes!  If you want to give this lovely little lady a home please contact us.   Related...

Rusty 3 (P)

Date of birth: March 2013 High to shoulder: 41 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: not yet Homed: February 2014   Rusty is a spaniel cross who turned up at PAWS one day limping. Nobody knows how he got down there, but as it seems he has found his rescuers himself! He was very, very anxious, but he also seemed to realize that he needed help and would find it here. Rusty had a very bad injury of the hind leg. It was not a pretty sight and was clear to everyone that Rusty must go as quickly as possible to see the vet. The vet looked at the injury and there was no other solution than an amputation of the hind leg. Rusty has since recovered well from this traumatic experience. He gets along well with his canine buddies, but he is still very suspicious and fearful of humans. If there is someone in his kennel he does not know he prefers to hide, poor boy. But he never shows a sign of aggression, only fear. His behaviour is improving more and more. At the photo shoot, I took a lot of time and spent a long time in his kennel. Rusty came closer and closer. He was obviously interested in me and at some point he sat beside me and let me stroke him. Rusty does enjoy some attention and a little fuss, despite his nervousness. For Rusty, we are looking for a quiet and understanding family, who engages with his disability and his fear. He himself is perfectly comfortable with his three legs. He can run and play so for him, all this is not a limitation.   Could you take Rusty to your heart and give this little chap a second chance?  Get in touch with us and we are sure you will all live happily ever after.     Related...
