Emma and her puppies gang – Update 25.06.2014
Once again we received a call for help from a pound. A spaniel mix female dog and her about 4 weeks old six puppies are urgently looking for admission in a shelter. A pound was and is really not the place for a single mom and her puppies. Unfortunately, all shelters are full of dogs, and a prospect of improvement is not in sight, as not many dogs leave the shelters, so we can´t plan, when we find a space in a shelter for the dog family. Every day we have to reject requests for dogs, which breaks our hearts, because we know this is for most of the dogs the certain death. But what can we do? All shelters are full, no one has a free space. When we also reject Emma and her puppies it could also just mean their death sentence. There are days… we can´t reject a request again for a whole dog family and therefore we must find a solution. At Emma, we are entered a major financial risk, because we have billeted the whole family in a boarding kennel, without knowing when we find a place in a shelter for them. And so Emma, her five sons and a daughter moved into a boarding kennel. They are doing splendidly and the puppies grow slowly up to be beautiful little dogs. All 6 are as sweet as sugar and her mum Emma is no less beautiful. She has a loving and gentle character. She takes good care of her puppies. We will shortly introduce all of them here on our website, and hope for all seven that they will find a great home. Of course, we hope this especially for Emma, because mostly the puppies were very quickly adopted and the mothers have to stay at the shelter for a long time. If you want to help us, we would appreciate a small donation to continue to fund the hotel costs. Update 25.06.2014 We are very sad, unfortunately we have not good news of Emma and her puppies gang. We hoped and fought but lost – 3 little puppies are died. We don´t know why, none of our vets could find out what they lack. One of the boys was dead in the morning, the girl and another boy were getting weaker and weaker until we had to redeem them, so they torturing yourself any longer. We suspect that they may already be carrying a virus in them. But what they really lack, we don´t know. The other three puppies are doing well so far, fortunately, they are typical lively and playful puppies. Emma and her puppies are due to the current situation still in the Boarding Kennel. Date of birth: April 2014 High to shoulder: 16 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: not yet Homed: June 2014 Willi, Flip and Maja were born in a home. Their mother is a Pekinese (half-breed) with short hair, the father is unknown. The three puppies were brought with their mother to a vet, who makes the first vaccination. The vet agreed to keep them until we find a good home for all, if she can sterilize the mother so she doesn´t gets babies again and again… and so it was done. The three puppies are now at the vet and we hope that we will find the right forever home for each of them. Maja is a small curly girl and has a sugar-sweet face. Willi has a bit shorter fur, and is a stocky and short-legged boy. Flip is bouncing all the time. He is an active little boy. Otherwise we can´t say a lot about the characters, except that they still had any bad experiences with people and they just enjoy her puppy existence at the moment. They play, eat and sleep a lot. Hello everybody, I am wring to say that I hope you had a Happy Christmas, and to let you know how I am getting on in my new home. I like it here very much, although it is usually cold, and somebody pours alot of water down from the sky quite often – I think that they call it rain. I don’t mind though because I have a nice new raincoat that keeps me warm and dry when I go out for long walks with my new friends Alfie and Larni. My friends look after me and let me share everything with them – even their nice warm beds! They have shown me how to walk nicely on a lead, although I found it very strange at first, but Uncle Michael and Auntie Val tell me that I am getting quite good at it now. We have lots of cuddles, especially in the chair at night, and there is nothing quite like nice, warm cuddles! I have had lots of Christmas dinners, and Auntie Val says that I may have to go on a diet after Christmas – I’m not sure what that is, but I don’t think that I like the sound of it! Uncle Michael says the diet sounds good, otherwise he will have to take me out for even longer walks in the cold wind and rain, so I can’t decide what is best for me. Less food, or long cold walks – it is very difficult! Any way, I must go now – I have written to Auntie Yuliya, and sent her some pictures, but would you be kind enough to send them to Auntie Susi for me, and thank her for getting me ready to come to my new home. I am very happy here with my new friends Alfie and Larni – you will see them in the pictures. Love from Byron A few months have passed… I am sorry that it is so long since I have written, but we have been very busy moving to our new cottage in the country. We now live in a place called Bourton, and we love it here. Our garden is much bigger, and there is lots of room to run around and play – which we do quite a lot! I don’t run as much as my friends Alfie and Larni, because I’m the oldest, but we still have lots of fun.When I’m tired, I just go and find somewhere comfortable to sleep, or if it is very hot I scrape up the earth and lie down there where it is cooler, just like I did in Cyprus. The new garden is really good for digging great big holes, which we all enjoy.I am very happy with my new friends in our new garden. We all had to go to our new vet, and we were very brave. I was lucky because I didn’t need an injection this time, and Alfie and Larni did, but the vet says that I have to go on a diet because I like my food too much, and that does not sound good to me! Date of birth: January 2014 High to shoulder: currently 47 cm Vaccinated: yes Neutered: not yet Homed: June 2014 Alice was found by an animal rights activist in the middle of the night when she was on her way home. She just came from a party and she tried to capture Alice, unfortunately it did not succeeded her. New day, new luck – the next day it was as if Alice waiting for her and her husband and this time it succeeded. Alice let captivated. She was checked by a veterinarian, she was vaccinated and now she lives with her rescuers in a foster home, along with many other dogs and cats. Alice is described by her foster home as a very special dog. Very trainable, very intelligent and very gentle in her behavior. Although she is a puppy and she likes to play, but she is not boisterous as the other puppies. All in all, Alice a dog that has a lot to give and the love she gets returns a thousand times. We do not know exactly how big she will be, but with her 5 months, she has been a considerable shoulder height. We wish for Alice a loving and sympathetic home.
